Introduction
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in China. However, early identification of patients with COPD in the community is challenging. This study used a real-world survey of the Chinese urban adult population to estimate the prevalence of COPD diagnosis or COPD-risk, examine the health outcomes and healthcare resource use of these groups, and investigate the sociodemographic factors associated with these statuses.
MethodsRespondents to the 2017 National Health and Wellness Survey in China (n = 19,994) were classified into: COPD (diagnosed), COPD-risk (undiagnosed), and control (undiagnosed, not at-risk) using their self-reported diagnosis and Lung Function Questionnaire (LFQ) score. These groups were compared by healthcare resource use and health outcomes (EuroQol [EQ-5D] and Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaires). Factors associated with being in these groups were investigated using pairwise comparisons (t-tests and chi-square tests) and multivariable logistic regression.
ResultsIn total, 3,320 respondents (16.6%) had a suspected risk of COPD but did not report receiving a diagnosis. This was projected to 105.3 million people (16.9% of urban adults). Relative to the controls, COPD-risk and COPD-diagnosed respondents had higher healthcare resource use, lower productivity, and lower health-related quality of life (HRQoL) (p < 0.05). Age, smoking, alcohol consumption, weight, exercise, comorbidities, gender, education, employment, and air pollution were associated with increased odds of COPD-risk relative to the controls (p < 0.05).
ConclusionsA substantial group of individuals, undiagnosed, but with a risk of COPD, have impaired HRQoL, lower productivity, and elevated healthcare resource use. A range of sociodemographic factors are predictive of COPD risk, which may support targeted screening. Case-detection tools such as the LFQ may offer a convenient approach for identifying individuals for further definitive testing and appropriate treatment in China.

Pelagic seabird populations have declined strongly worldwide. In the North Atlantic there was a huge reduction in seabird populations following the European colonization of the Azores, Madeira and Canary archipelagos but information on seabird status and distribution for the subtropical region of Cabo Verde is scarce, unavailable or dispersed in grey literature. We compiled and compared the historical and current distribution of all seabird species breeding in the Cabo Verde archipelago, updated their relative abundance, investigated their inland habitat preferences, and reviewed their threats. Currently, the breeding seabird community in Cabo Verde is composed of Bulwer’s Petrel Bulweria bulwerii, White-faced Storm-petrel Pelagodroma marina aedesorum, Cape Verde Shearwater Calonectris edwardsii, Cape Verde Storm-petrel Hydrobates jabejabe, Cape Verde Petrel Pterodroma feae, Boyd's Shearwater Puffinus lherminieri boydi, Brown Booby Sula leucogaster, and Red-billed Tropicbird Phaethon aethereus. One breeding species is currently extinct, the Magnificent Frigatebird Fregata magnificens. The relative abundance of Cape Verde Shearwater, Boyd’s Shearwater, Cape Verde Petrel, and Cape Verde Storm-petrel was determined from counts of their nocturnal calls in Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia, Branco, Raso and São Nicolau. Cape Verde Petrel occurred only on mountainous islands (Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santiago, and Fogo) from mid-to high elevations. Larger species such as the Cape Verde Shearwater and Boyd’s Shearwater exhibited a wider distribution in the archipelago, occurring close to the coastline but at lower densities on populated islands. Small procellariforms such as the Cape Verde Storm-petrel occurred at high densities only on rat-free islets and in steep areas of main islands where introduced cats and rats are unlikely to occur. The main threats to seabird populations in Cabo Verde range from predation by introduced predators, habitat alteration or destruction, and some residual human persecution.

Background
The aim of the current study was to examine the heterogeneity of functional outcomes in first episode psychosis (FEP) patients and related clinical, neurocognitive and sociodemographic factors using a cluster analytic approach.
MethodA large sample of FEP patients (N = 209) was functionally reassessed 10 years after the first contact with an early intervention service. Multiple baseline, 3-year and 10-year follow-up variables were explored.
ResultsThe cluster analysis emphasized the existence of six independent clusters of functioning: one cluster was normal overall (42.16%), two clusters showed moderate interpersonal (9.63%) or instrumental (12.65%) deficits, two clusters showed more severe interpersonal (12.05%) or interpersonal and instrumental (13.85%) deficits and there was a significantly overall impaired cluster (9.63%). Cluster comparisons showed that several baseline and follow-up factors were differentially involved in functional outcomes.
ConclusionsThe current study demonstrated that distinct clusters of functioning in FEP patients can be identified. The fact that a variety of profiles was observed contributes to a better understanding of the nature of the heterogeneity characterizing FEP patients and has clinical implications for developing individualized treatment plans.

Division XI, the predecessor to Division D until 2012, was formed in 1994 at the IAU General Assembly in The Hague by merging Commission 44 Astronomy from Space and Commission 48 High Energy Astrophysics. Historically, space astrophysics started with the high energy wavelengths (far UV, X-ray, and gamma-ray astronomy) which are only accessible from space. However, in modern astronomy, to study high energy astrophysical processes, almost all wavelengths are used (including gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, infrared, submillimeter and radio). In addition other ground-based facilities, including gravitational wave antennas, neutrino detectors and high-energy cosmic ray arrays are joining in this era of multi-messenger astrophysics, as well as space missions with the primary goals to discover and study exoplanets, are under the umbrella of Division XI.

The aim of this work is to process by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) a low carbon – triple-alloyed steel containing 0.2% C, 0.5% Cr, 0.6% Ni, 0.2% Mo and 0.8 Mo. The process is performed at room temperature for up to four passes using route Bc with an equivalent strain of ∼0.6 after a single pass. Structure evolution before and after deformation is studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) and mechanical properties are assessed by microhardness and tensile testing. A significant improvement of the mechanical properties is found with increasing number of ECAP passes. Micro-hardness increases from 216 HV for the initial sample to 302 HV after four passes and tensile strength increases to 1200 MPa compared with 430 MPa prior to ECAP. X-ray diffraction and SEM analysis show changes in the original ferritic-perlitic structure through ferrite grain refinement and the deformation of perlite. This nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy is used in manufacturing as gear material, and when it is hardened and formed through carburizing or boronizing it can be used to make hard-wearing machine parts. However, the ECAP process has not been used to harden this steel and to change its structure to obtain better mechanical performance.

Originally, Division XI concerned itself only with high-energy astrophysics (in particular UV, X-ray and gamma rays), to which was later added the domain of lower-energy astrophysics where observations are generally performed from space (optical, infrared, submillimeter and parts of the radio spectrum). The Division also includes ground-based high energy gamma ray and cosmic ray experiments, gravitational wave, and Moon-based astronomical observations. The individual expertise of the present OC reflects primarily the UV and higher energy domains. However, since there are plans within the IAU to restructure divisions, we propose that, following the changes in the Divisional structure and renewal of the OC, the new members will be recruited to broaden the spectral range of research covered by the Division.

Simultaneous multi-wavelength observations are crucial for understanding the physics of microquasars, especially the accretion disk/jet connection. The enigmatic microquasar Cygnus X-3 exhibits strong, relativistic jet ejection events producing radio flares up to 20 Jy. These events are preceded by a very soft X-ray state with quenched emission in the radio and hard X-ray bands. Recently, GeV flux was observed by the AGILE and Fermi γ-ray observatories during the newly-identified hypersoft state. By using an extensive database of simultaneous multi-wavelength observations gathered from Cygnus X-3 we can form a more unified picture of the nature of the source and show how the recent γ-ray observations fit into it.

Modelling is one of the most frequent tasks in the area of information systems (ISs), with models such as schemata, ontologies, patterns and architectures forming the bases for their creation. Very often, however, the difference between these types of models is not clear and causes confusion and erratic use of the terms. The aim of this paper is to clarify the concept of model through a study of some of the more common ones used in ISs. This proposal is presented through an ontology, where we show how we conceptualize models according to their role in the development of an IS: the model understood as the representation of a domain or as a reality serving as an example.
Qualitative dynamic diagnosis of circuits

We describe ACDS, an automatic diagnostic system. ACDS is capable of diagnosing faults on analog circuits in dynamic conditions. The circuit's dynamic behavior is studied by means of a series of intrastate simulations during which the qualitative state of the circuit does not change. An acquistion board collects the value of a set of quantities corresponding to accessible test points. These measurements are converted into qualitative values and are used for two purposes: first, to determine the state of the circuit components; second, to trigger the diagnostic procedure whenever a discrepancy between observed and predicted behavior is found. The main difficulty in this phase of measurement interpretation is in obtaining meaningful numerical-qualitative data conversion for values of quantities approaching a boundary between two different qualitative intervals. System performance has been verified through a number of simulations, which have shown the proposed approach to be efficient both in terms of localized faults and of flexibility in adapting to different circuits.

A theory of non-crystalline recombination junctions is developed and compared to the experimental data. Junction transport is represented as hopping in both real and energy spaces, dominated by rare yet exponentially effective optimum channels having favorable configurations of localized states. Our work correlates the current-voltage characteristics of non-crystalline devices with material parameters and predicts large non-ideality factors increasing under light, and possible variations between nominally identical devices.
